General Management for Physician Practice

Do you have the knowledge and expertise necessary in today’s regulation rich environment to successfully manage a busy medical practice? Identify yourself as a leader in this space! Document your expertise via professional certification and demonstrate your value. Certified Medical Managers make a positive difference for their practice and their patients!

The CMM Credential provides assurance to physicians, medical boards, and the public that the PAHCOM CMM has been tested under strict requirements using psychometrically determined processes and found to be competent in the administrative management of health care organizations.

The examination created and administered by PAHCOM, for the healthcare administration profession, is the Certified Medical Manager (CMM) Credential. The CMM Credential validates knowledge of the Nine Domains of Medical Practice Administration and recognizes the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to manage physician practices and ambulatory service centers in increasingly complex environments. CMMs work as critical links between providers, patients, staff and payers.

The CMM is the only nationally accredited professional certification specific to practice management with focus on managers of solo provider and small group physician practices.

APPLICATION

Physicians and administrative leadership members enjoy a 50% discount on certification exams. If you are not a member, please consider joining PAHCOM Physician/Admin prior to submitting your exam application.

QUALIFICATIONS

CMM candidates must meet or exceed the following:

  • 2 years experience working within the healthcare industry in support of patient care. Management experience is not required but it should be noted that the test content relates to operational administrative issues faced in a functioning medical practice where patients are treated.

  • 12 post-secondary education credits related to healthcare or management (college, university, or vocational school). Each year of experience above the 2 year minimum reduces the education requirement by 1 credit. Candidates with 14 years of experience and no education also meet this requirement (2 years experience satisfies the experience requirement + 12 years experience satisfies the education requirement).

Recertification is required:
